Endometriosis is basically the development of endometrial tissue outside the uterus in the fallopian tubes or ovary or peritoneum. It affects 10 percent of reproductive-age women. It is mostly seen in women having pelvic pain or infertility.

The symptoms may or may not be present in many women. Endometriosis causes difficult menses, abdominal or pelvic pain, infertility, chronic lower back pain, difficulty in intercourse or bleeding after intercourse.

Endometriosis can be treated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), followed by hormone therapy. Surgical treatment is required to relieve pain and increase pregnancy rates by removal of the endometria’s deposits by laparoscopy. Medical treatment and surgical removal of the uterus can be suggested in those who do not want a pregnancy.

If you have chronic abdominal pain or infertility, Visit I and My Doctors Clinic to get relief and proper treatment.
